This twice monthly newsletter has been published since 1970. In 2004 it switched its focus away from U.S. stocks. Cabot China & Emerging Markets Report focuses on China and emerging markets, mainly Brazil, India, and Russia. The newsletter has been observed to place emphasis on fundamentals when buying, technicals when selling.
Paul Goodwin joined the Cabot investment team as editor of Cabot China & Emerging Markets Report in 2005. Previously Goodwin was a senior financial writer for Putnam Investments' international and institutional communications, a writer/editor for the Parker Brothers' game Trivial Pursuit, a professor at the University of New Hampshire, and a Chinese linguist for the U.S. Army Security Agency.
Goodwin has often been featured on Bloomberg Television, CNBC, MSN Money, Dow Jones MarketWatch, WallStreetReporter.com, SeekingAlpha.com, the World Money Show, and TopStockAnalysts.com.
As of February 2010, Hulbert Financial Digest cites previous 12 month returns on the newsletter for the past 1 year 5.64%, 3 years 6.77%, 5 years 0.78% and 10 years -4.56%. Hulbert Financial Digest simulates the buying and selling of everything the letter recommends. Peter Brimelow of MarketWatch named it as Investment Letter of the Year for 2007. Specialized Information Publishers Foundation named it Best Financial Advisory Newsletter in 2008.
